The Best Time Was...

Work Coffee - At work we have several coffee pots for strong coffee or weak coffee or decaf coffee, etc. So we also have several coffee makers. We have these heavy-duty, fancy, smancy Bunn coffee makers that will make a 12-cup pot in about 30 seconds. Then we have a toned down Bunn coffee maker that will make only a 10-cup pot, but it takes a couple minutes. We use this one for decaf. Unfortunately we have two different sized water pitchers to use for each pot, but it is not obvious to a newcomer which one to use or even if it makes a difference. So this one day a colleague of mine is making a pot of decaf and I'm not paying enough attention at the time to notice that he is using the water pitcher for the 12-cup pot. He gets the pot started and walks away. I'm still there making my cup. And there she goes - hot coffee overflowing from the pot. All over the microwave. All over the table. I'm trying to remember which one of my buds just got done starting this pot. Then I remember; so I'm there yelling out his name - "Where are you? Get back here!". I found him a couple offices down the hall and pointed at him and said "Get back here! Look what you did!". I explained to him that he was not the first, nor would he be the last to make this faux pa. I had done the same thing when I first moved to this area. You would think a bunch of engineers would have a written procedure to avoid such a thing? Nah! That was the best time!
